Egg Parachutes Challenge

The 5th Grade Math Strive class completed an Egg Parachute STEM Challenge this week.  Teams created a parachute using 2 materials of their choice and the egg container using 5 materials of their choice.  Teams tested their egg parachutes by dropping them off the back of the football field bleachers.  The eggs of ALL SIX teams survived the drop! The teams then removed their parachute and dropped their egg just using the egg container.  This time every single egg broke!  As students reflected on this challenge, they concluded that the parachute provided enough air resistance to slow the drop which allowed the eggs to survive the impact on the concrete.
